Valerio Schmitz-Esser, Ph.D., CFA
Dr. Schmitz-Esser, Managing Director, is head of Index Mandates within Credit Suisse’s Asset Management division. Prior to joining Credit Suisse in 2000, he was a Ph.D. student and research assistant at the institute of accounting and corporate finance at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. During his Ph.D. studies, he worked in several consulting projects in the banking sector. During his Master’s studies, he was an intern with Erste Invest Consult in Vienna, Bayerische Vereinsbank in Munich, and Munich Re in Singapore. Before that, he undertook a bank apprenticeship with Vereins- und Westbank in Hamburg/Germany.
Dr. Schmitz-Esser holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He also studied business administration in Fribourg and Siena, Italy. Dr. Schmitz-Esser is a CFA charter holder.
